Proceeds Going to Charity & Hillcrest Development Team to Match Donations

We are very excited to announce that the Hillcrest Neighborhood Village Condo Development Team will be auctioning off the landmark Hillcrest Colt with all proceeds going to charity.  The Hillcrest development team will be donating all proceeds from the Hillcrest Colt auction to charity and is pledging to match the proceeds from the auction to increase the donation*. The development team will be donating all proceeds to Isthmus (formerly known as “Blessings in a Backpack”). Isthmus is a Canadian based charity that provides food on weekends for Canadian children living in poverty. Given that the development is transforming an existing school, the team selected a charity that is relevant and will be impactful for youth. While many students are supported by school lunch programs, Isthmus is one of the only programs in the country to provide students with reliable access to food that bridges the food security gap they experience over the weekends. For more information on Isthmus, please visit their website by clicking here.

In addition to participating in the auction, if you would like to make a donation to Isthmus on behalf of the Thunder Bay community for which the development team will be matching*, please click here to make a donation directly on the Isthmus donation page.  Please note that when making the donation, so we can accurately track the donation coming from the Thunder Bay community, all donations must be made on this page as it is setup specifically for the Hillcrest Development – Thunder Bay fundraising drive.  The development team and Isthmus team will only be able to track donations made for the campaign directly from this page.

Through Isthmus, the development team has set a goal of raising enough funds to feed 50 students for an entire year.  If you would like to participate in the online auction, please click here!

Let the Hillcrest Colt Auction commence!

*Terms and conditions: the development team will match the proceeds of the auction and donations to a maximum of $3,000.00.

Top 5 Reasons to buy a Condo in Thunder Bay

More and more people in the real estate market are looking to purchase a condo instead of buying a house or renting an apartment.

Why should you purchase a condo – specifically Hillcrest?

Below are the 5 top reasons condos are so hot right now…….

  1. Upkeep & Maintenance not required –One of big that so many people prefer a condo is the fact that they do not require the same type of upkeep as owning a house. There is no mowing the lawn or pulling weeds, no shoveling the snow or cleaning the gutters, no painting the house or washing windows. In addition to these not being the most favourable tasks, many people today simply do not have the time for regular maintenance due to family and career. Hillcrest Condos has a property management team that takes care of all these responsibilities for you.
  2. Amenities – When you buy a condo, you also buy the “right” to a number of amenities. Since all of the money put into the condo is shared by everyone living in the building, you can access many of the luxuries that might be difficult to have on your own. Here at Hillcrest Condos you can work out in our onsite gym (Old School Fitness) without a monthly fee, host an event in one of our common areas with kitchen facilities and throw a party in the original auditorium space (Heritage Hall). To start your day off perfectly or end it on a great note you can watch the sunset or the sunrise as well as enjoy every view Hillcrest has to offer from the rooftop patio. Have a guest coming for a few night? Reserve the “Hillsuite” accommodations for them. Have a small dog or cat that loves to socialize? No problem, bring them over to the “Bark Park”, Hillcrest’s pet friendly fenced in area.
  3. Socialize – If you want to make new friends or expand your social circle or want a change, living in a condo can make this happen! When you purchase a condominium you also get a community, therefore when you buy a condo at Hillcrest you immediately are provided with a new group of friends that you can get to know and enjoy. And for those days you want to have privacy and keep to yourself Hillcrest Condos is situated in a well developed neighourbood and an area with plenty of shops, restaurants, parks and schools as well as a great walking district.
  4. Security –The most important aspect of condo living whether you are a first time home buyer or a retiree is feeling safe and secure in your surroundings. Locked entries and a door-entry system with an intercom in the main entrance to offer peace of mind.  There are also many people around in case of emergency and the parking lot is well-lit.  Hillcrest is a considered a high rise building with 4 stories, the most popular condos for security would be a large building that has many levels. Additional benefits would include secure access, mail box in front lobby and elevators to all floor as well as a safe neighbourhood.
  5. Investment – Thunder Bay has been ranked by a National Magazine the #1 city in the country for purchasing an investment and/or rental property.

Feel the pride of owning a Hillcrest Village Condo

If you told my wife and I, buying a condo would be in the cards two years ago I would have to say your nuts, but fast-forward those two years and it has became a reality for us.

The whole experience is something that is hard to describe in words until you meet the staff and crew of the condos.

Front line staff of Keri and Devika is really what makes you feel at ease from the first meeting. There are no hard sells at Hillcrest. Keri makes the whole buying experience from showing units in your price range, which is a big plus, to showing you what is included and what is and upgrade to a unit. We never felt like we were in over our heads considering a unit at Hillcrest Village. I can truly say that any reasonable request by me or my wife has been tended too in a very short period of time.

On the construction end of the condos Brady and Kevin walk through every step of the building of your unit. Being that we had never bought a condo before, they seem to understand that cautiousness, and want to make the experience as easy as possible for first and seasoned condo buyers. If you were to own your own company these are the people you would want to bring in to run the project. They put the customer first.

To make a long story short, my wife and I feel like we belong at the Hillcrest Village Condos already after only being here a short time. We have met most of our neighbors at Hillcrest,  and  living in another Thunder Bay neighborhood for 33 years the transition has been so easy.

If you think that an easier lifestyle is what your looking for and want to live where you feel a part of something, this is where you belong.

I love the the building’s character!

I have been living at Hillcrest Neighbourhood Village Condos for almost two years and I love it! What first attracted me to the development, being that I am a retired teacher, was the building’s rich history. A great deal of care has been taken to preserve the character of the building – the staircases are original, the hallways are wide and the terrazzo floors are in pristine condition.

Unlike most new condominiums, each unit at Hillcrest has a unique layout. Retrofitting an old building has its challenges but it allows for more creativity. I was very fortunate to purchase a unit with a beautiful rooftop deck which has stunning views of the mountain and at night, the lights of the south side of the city.

I also love that Hillcrest is centrally located. I am an avid walker and in just 10 – 15 minutes I can be downtown or enjoying a stroll at the waterfront.

I think the thing I love most about living here at Hillcrest are my neighbours. Everyone who lives here and works here is very friendly and shares the vision of this one of a kind development!

Customer service and sense of community is amazing!

What an amazing idea and a great vision to take an old high school and turn it into what is know today as Hillcrest Neighbourhood Village Condos.

We purchased a condo in phase one right at the beginning of the project.  Brady, Keri and the team are totally amazing an easy to deal with.  They all went above and beyond in taking care of our needs and requests.  Hillcrest was our choice because we were looking for something different, something that was solid with great amenities and something that wasn’t the same as everybody else’s, something that deserved the name “condominium” and didn’t look like or feel like an apartment building, something that would give us a sense of community.  Well, we found our gem.  This is our home.

My expectations have been exceeded!

Thank you to Sharan, Brady, Keri, Devika, Dan, Kevin and the countless “workers” associated with the Hillcrest Neighbourhood Village project who laboured tirelessly to make my Phase II Hillcrest condo a reality. Working with the Hillcrest team has proved to be an amazingly positive experience! Their “team” enthusiasm and commitment to excellence exceeded all my expectations. The Hillcrest Condos management team worked within my budget, accommodated my personal taste and always cared enough to look out for my best interests.

Highly recommended project…..Five star service. Consistent, quality workmanship. I couldn’t be happier!

– Ric
